Operating as a simple plug-in for Kindle and other devices, the OLÉ allows you to fine tune your reading matter at the press of a button, the turn of a knob and the…erm… slide of a slider.

The Mark I version of the OLÉ, shown below with a Kobo reader in its vari-fit holder, allows 256 reading parameters to be dialled up or down to suit your individual preferences, including humour, metafictional effects, dialogue tags, metaphor, simile, descriptive detail, digression and many more.

Falling asleep reading Crime and Punishment? Simply adjust the ‘Wearisome monologues’ slider to shorten the tedious speeches to an acceptable threshold. Can’t abide the excessive ploysyndeton in your new Cormac McCarthy? Rotate the appropriate knob and it is gone. And for readers of Dan Brown, the conveniently placed cliché elimination button will be a boon, albeit one that will drastically reduce the word count.
